Wow...HK Lighting Fair is now finished! The usual whirlwind 4days that leaves you exhausted.

Our week started the day prior to the show and what often the clients who visit do not see. We arrived at 9am, three staff and two of our technicians to set up. All however as usual does not go to plan.

The Booth was a nightmare to construct from start to finish and we ended up walking out of the Hall at 12midnight after getting all prepared for clients visiting the next day.

You head back to your Hotel and sleep, feet feeling like they are in need of a serious massage.

Each wall needed wiring, all the pendants, all the labelling...it was a massive task.

But from all the effort comes recognition when you meet some industry professionals and discuss products.

So it was nice to see Rob who is a fellow Brit in China who manufactures bespoke products in Xiolan. Also a big thanks to Ray from Lux Magazine for visiting us and allowing me to air my thoughts on Lux Magazine TV.

Meeting these professionals means nothing without being able to explain to clients ideas and approach to quality. So the next 3 days were a mixture of clients from various nations talking with us.?

In the evenings after the show it is time to go out with clients so sleep deprived the last day is always one to look forwards to.

Many many Exellent buyers attend from ALL over the world.

It was quite sad to see many booths strarting to break down in the morning of the last day however experience tells us always to wait as long as possible.

I did do my best to take in some of the fair also, as much as I could without being away from our booth for to long and here are my thoughts.

1) I did see as usual many desperate attempts to gain clients from the usual odour of Bull...Written on booths 130Lm/W on edge lit panels. Fact it is impossible to gain this type of fixture output on edge lit.

2) The highest claim I had seen for Lm/W was 203Lm/W on a T8 LED tube. Let us just gain fact from that: Lab tests have been conducted in -20 conditions to produce 220Lm/W. But it is impossible on a Tube.

3) I feel the amount of customers at the fair was way down on last year. A view echoed by a number of friends who also exhibited. I believe that is down purely to LED falling in price so much and quality issues around the world.

4) Many companies are focussing on control systems so this will be a boom area for 2015-2016.

5) Price point garbage: Well I will not even begin to discuss the $10 panel, or the $1 tube. If you understand thermals/light quality/degredation and materials you will know that these are "fools gold" promos.

6) The Buyer Quality was High, lots of questions and requests for quality answers.

But as I discussed with many quality always comes full circle...its why we MUST exhibit and exhaust ourselves to do so.....
