Uplighters filling with Water__ No more..! New tech. (July 13th, 2015)
(2019/9/17)
Hi all that read my posts. Here is another product series I have been fortunate to get involved in over the past 12months. It is the most exiting one in so much of the issues it solves.......
1) Buried uplighters filling with water?
2) Worried about Arcing between electrical connections?
3) Worried about using traditional LHs as not designed in unusual locations?
If you answered YES to any of the above you really need to read on more.....
We all know and have worked with Buried uplighters be that the commercial versions or the more common smaller inground lights. But they all have quite a common issue.
See the design is generally a Diecast pot with a screw down Bezel, a LH in the base with a large area of air, cable gland on the base/side. With this you have heat causing suction and this sometimes allows water to ingress.
This is a nightmare for a electrician as generally these once installed have the cables going into IP68rated junction boxes and can Quite often be set in concrete. If it leaks then removal and replacement is very costly.
This with LED Longevity would be a nightmare so we looked at some other ways of transfer of energy and started to look into induction. Based around the wireless?transfer.
LEDs being such low current that they do not require much in the way of Drive.
So we worked to create a 2 part plug in system but here is the great part and I am not going to explain the inner workings/technical on Linkedin. Basically you have a Male and a female both in Plastic, when the Male (base) slots into the head (Female) the Uplighter lights up....
Both parts are sealed Ip68 and they are non conductive material so they have no arcing, that is impossible. The base could be under a fountain when the head plugs on and Lights up...really is clever tech....
Simply plug on the top to the bottom and the light will work...So the Electrician can focus on ensuring Water integrity to external cabling.
Here is a small video to see how this works....

All Bezels are manufactured in 316L SS.
Also the smaller range allows you to change a head without disconnecting any of the bases.
This system also has?evolved now inbto options for.....
1) Swimming pool lighting (Run at 24VDC) but same principle.
2) Floodlights, Sign Lighting.
3) Also a totally non conductive Tube/Base. Base can be IP67 and tube once again plugs on with NO electrical connections.
